Australia’s largest national fishing competition, the Pirtek Fishing Challenge, is on again for the fourth year running on Sunday, 15 April 2012.
Open to all Australians in a wide array of competition categories, the aim of the Fishing Challenge is to raise awareness of prostate cancer through fishing fun and $130,000 in cash and prizes. As in previous years, the money raised through the competition is being donated to the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia (PCFA).


New South Wales has new work health and safety laws – and ATA NSW is holding free seminars to help its members comply with their obligations.
The seminars will be held in Sydney on 24 January and in Newcastle on 2 February.
The seminars will be run by ATA NSW’s industrial relations partner, Ai Group, and will cover:
Ai Group will also provide a brief update on the TWU’s ‘Safe Rates’ campaign, including the introduction of the Road Safety Remuneration Bill 2011 into Federal Parliament. If passed in its current form, the Bill would have major impact on both employers and hirers of owner drivers.

The 2012 Australian Trucking Convention will feature international safety leader Don Osterberg, the Senior Vice President of Safety, Security and Driver Training at Schneider National, one of the largest truckload carriers in America.
ATA NSW members who register before 23 December will receive a $350 discount.
The convention will be held from 16-19 May 2012 at the Rosehill Gardens Event Centre, Sydney.
The discount consists of a $250 Christmas bonus and a $100 member discount for being in ATA NSW. In addition, delegates who register before 23 December have the chance to win back the cost of their registration.

ATA NSW members are eligible for free chain of responsibility training for three of their staff, thanks to an introductory offer from Chain of Responsibility Australia.

Together with its industrial relations partner, Ai Group, ATA NSW has released an exclusive fact sheet for its members about the details of the Australian Government’s safe rates bills.
The Government introduced the bills into Parliament last week.
